Tradescantia is valued for its variegated leaves of purple shades, ripsalis has thin decorative stems, eschinanthus has short fleshy foliage and racemose inflorescences, and hedera, also known as common ivy, boasts beautiful glossy leaves of a characteristic three- or five-fingered shape.
